They're Coming Home to Roost

I don't think it will surprise many that Hobart is my second home and that I am a honorary Taswegian.
I've talked a little about my film work in that state before.
Today I want to blow the trumpet for two projects that I worked on last year, Noirhouse & Hormones.
On both projects I worked in the role of 1st AD. I would like to say that they were both completed because of my incredible competency but the reality is the teams I work with down in the deep south are just a wee bit too good and we are always able to complete crazy stupid schedules on time, every time. It's why I keep going back.

Hormones
First up Hormones is getting its National Broadcast Premiere on the ABC this Friday night (18th July). If you can't catch the broadcast then chase it up on ABC iview for a limited time.
Hormones is a musical! First one I have ever worked on. Logistically it presented its own set of challenges but creatively it's a real gas. A little slice of life in a young family at the wrong time of the month. It was conceived by Meg Bignel and produced by Dominique Hurley as part of last years Raw Nerve Program (Screen Australia, Wide Angle Tasmania).
Meg Bignell & Adrian Smith dance in happier times
Almost every time I have worked in Tasmania it has also been with Dom and she is very much a part of my serial returning. A real can do person who has produced some amazing and interesting projects and this one is no different. Meg too is a cracker and this is the third production that she has written and acted in that I've had the privilege of working on.
Motley Cast & Crew
 Noirhouse
You can catch Noirhouse's 1st three episodes on their website but if you wanna see it on the big screen (a very worthwhile pursuit) then it is screening in Melbourne on this Sunday, July 20th at Deakin Edge, Federation Square. It is part of the official selection for the Melbourne Web Fest 2014.
Noirhouse is the brainchild of Shaun Wilson, Tim Logan and Nathan Rogers. I'm sure they swap roles all the time and especially late at night but essentially it's Director, Writer & Actor (and all Producer's?) It's a very funny sit-com set in a share house with a Femme Fatale, Detective and a burly Ruski as the core characters. Very tightly written, well acted/directed, beautifully shot and funny too! Quite ridiculously funny actually.

Mick, Nathan & Mel - core cast
You can catch both of these this weekend each won't change your life but seeing both together most certainly will. There lies the challenge!
